Milan Fashion Week: Best Trends and Sustainable Brands

Milan’s S/S 21 fashion show was rather unusual than the past ones as it had significantly fewer international visitors, and a mix of physical and virtual presentations; the latter, were streamed on their official websites and social media platforms.

Numerous big and small designers showed once again their engagement and focus around the topic of sustainability. Due to the still ongoing pandemic, precautions are taken into account with shows staged in front of small audiences and unmasked models. The trends reflect a return to a bright personal style, and the appearance of bold prints, colors and textures. Hereby we offer a glimpse into the top trends spotted across Milan’s runways.

BOLD PRINTS

Milan’s fashion week designers infused their collections with bright, summery prints, nodding to bright tropical flower and nautical themes. Examples for this are Marni, Emilio Pucci and Moschino.

COLOR SPLASH

The best part of Milan’s fashion week is to witness its endless creative, bold and colourful style offering a mix of saturations and different colour combinations. Everything is allowed: bright colours, mix and match of textures and prints that give out such a vivid impression and an overall cheerful look. THE SHEER LOOK

MAX MARA

Max Mara's S/S 21 fashion show was inspired by rebirth, reconstruction and renewal presenting the indomitable heroines of the Renaissance. The show was located in the very poetic courtyard of the Accademia di Brera. The brand is significantly engaged with the topic of sustainability. It launched their CameLux collection last year made out of upcycled fabrics and products that would have otherwise gone to waste.

Sustainable Italian luxury fashion label Genny embraces social responsibility for its employees and is committed to safeguarding the low impact of its products on the environment. The S/S 21 fashion collection is inspired by femininity, class and exclusive style. Here are some of our favorite looks.

SPYDER

Visual artist Carlos Serrao produced a compelling performance art film for the latest Spyder SS21 collection, which was inspired by everyday life situations becoming extraordinary, showing the dynamics of sports and the aspiration towards a life that exists somewhere between reality and fantasy.

MARNI

Marni's Francesco Risso took things one step further this season by creating coats, which were painted with quotes from Risso’s friends, using outerwear from previous seasons.
