Why to buy: Samurai Mode Series is a new modern “Next Kimono Platform” designed by Japanese fashion brand Kuden, by Takahiro Sato. It’s a social brand designed to solve two social issues: the disappearing of Japanese traditional kimono culture and the lost of high quality sewing techniques.
Kuden’s unique ethical approaches are the ethical chart and the price sheet. The brand publishes the real cost of its garments to customers and keeps 40~50% cost rates on a price sheet. It also grades how ethical the product is by an ethical chart including information not only about the product and process, but about the brand and its social design.
What we love: Samurai Mode Series has three garments that you can wear all together as a modern kimono. All are unisex. They remain the goodness of kimono but are redesigned to be suitable for modern daily life.
Kuden introduces the Jacket. Good for daily use, business scene or trips, you can select your main and inner colors as you like, composing your personalized tradicional kimono. After order, it is sewed by a team in a small Japanese sewing factory, one by one. The fabric of the jacket is water repellent and wrinkle resistant. We also love that Kuden’s Designer Takahiro Sato's final mission is making a place where people with disability like his son (now living apart) can work with joy. Kuden is a stage for it.

Why To Buy: California-based eco-luxe accessories brand, Ninakuru designs and produces collections of bespoke and ready-to-wear handmade Panama hats, hand-shaped felt hats, straw handbags, and accessories. Jennifer Moray, the founder and designer, curates her collections for select high-end boutiques and a mindful, conscious clientele who appreciate skilled craftsmanship and the luxury it represents. Ninakuru’s aim is not only to provide beautiful, handmade accessories, but to preserve the livelihood of artisans who rely on their trade to support themselves and their families.
Ninakuru’s authentic Panama hats are handwoven by master artisans, sourcing sustainable and environmentally friendly toquilla straw, which is found in the equatorial rainforests of Ecuador. Weaving an authentic Panama hat is an art worthy of appreciation - in 2012, the hand weaving of Panama hats was added to the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list. The hats are then styled in the Ninakuru studio, adorned with vintage grosgrain ribbons, turquoise, and other high quality finishes.
What we love: All Ninakuru Panama hats are handmade by master artisans from sustainably sourced toquilla (palm) straw, and adorned with custom and unique finishes and designs.
Artisans’ talents have been handed down through the generations, yet many are abandoning their beloved craft and accepting jobs in the service sector, as demand for their goods decreases in favor of factory-made products - Ninakuru partners with talented individuals, increasing demand for their goods and paying living wages.
Ninakuru agave bags, too, are handmade from locally sourced cabuya straw, dyed naturally with organic rainforest botanicals such as berries, seeds, and tree bark. Translated from Quechua, the language of the Incan people, Ninakuru means ‘firefly’, a wonderfully fitting name for the company, representing that true beauty radiates from within, and each of us has an inner glow worthy of being noticed.

Why to buy: Bona Fide means "In Good Faith". It’s from this value that the brand is born, with the intention of promoting honesty, empathy and sustainability, both to the Earth and to the people who live on it. The brand aims to inspire a more conscious consumption, with a timeless design, materials of sustainable origin, local production and the savoir faire of Portuguese textiles. Made in small quantities to produce exclusive collections, each piece was created with the intention of being beautifully conscious and to be worn through time, beyond fast trends and seasons.
What we love: The collections are created with a timeless but authentic design, in local factories or seamstresses, in the north of Portugal. They also work with the best quality materials, be it from dead stock from local partners or sustainable fabrics, like this beautiful dress, made from recycled polyester from a Portuguese manufacturer.
At Bona Fide, they invite you to live more intentionally and slowly in order to cherish every precious moment of life.

Why to buy: NAture WE LOve. That's what NAWELO's name stands for. Nawelo pants are designed and hand-crafted by the founders themselves in their Netherlands based studio. These pure hemp chinos, jeans and culottes are zero-waste and cradle-to-cradle and the brand even offers its own life-cycle buyback program.
Given its fashionable designs it's hard to believe the brand was founded in 2013 by Jarmila and Stefan while living the camper van lifestyle in Spain.
What we love: Jarmila and Stefan fell in love with hemp for its incredible comfort and sustainability qualities and set out on a journey to create designs that don't make any compromises between style, sustainability and comfort – going as far as adding half-sizes, three styles and three inseam lengths to choose from. After four years, dozens of hours of skype calls with Jarka's parents (who are tailors) and plenty of excited customers' feedback, Nawelo just launched their brand-new collection.
