Stella McCartney presents the most sustainable Hunter boots

No chemicals, no deforestation and 100% vegan. Stella McCartney has joined forces with iconic British brand Hunter to create a new rubber boot. It is vegan and, probably, "the most sustainable ever made."

Debuted on Stella McCartney Winter ’19 runway in Paris, the Hunter Boot is a vegan and sustainable update on an iconic heritage design, "making it more eco-friendly than ever before"– says the brand. "Unlike most other boots of its kind, the materials for the natural rubber used are sourced from certified, sustainably-managed forests in Guatemala, meaning that no deforestation occurs, and that the social and economic welfare of workers and local communities are protected"– underlines.

The boots are fitted with stretch inserts made from a plant-based alternative to neoprene called Yulex™, a new material made without petrochemicals and sourced from the same certified forests as the natural rubber. The material generates 80% less climate-altering carbon dioxide than traditional neoprene, but delivers near-identical performance in terms of strength and elasticity. A completely cruelty and animal-free construction also ensures that they are 100% vegan.

"We are proud to break new ground in the field of sustainability and offer our customers a truly environmentally-friendly alternative that is at the height of functionality, sustainability and style"– says Stella McCartney.

In July, 2019, the sustainable luxury brand released the world's first recyclable hoodie in collaboration with Adidas. Sneaker giant Adidas and British designer Stella McCartney teamed up to create a recyclable garment called “The Infinite hoodie” , composed of 60% NuCycl™ fibre, a material made using the threads from old garments, and 40% organic cotton that has been diverted from landfills.
