TALIA BYRE

-- --

Family, craftsmanship and femininity come together in an energetic way in Talia Byre’s designs. After attending an internship in the home of Alexander McQueen and the MA Fashion Womenswear at Central Saint Martins in 2020, she feels that her time has come. Her feminine line stands out in a particular way, as it awakens a feeling of nostalgia in the viewer. Inspired by the clothing of her family’s women, especially her grandmother’s skirts, she sources her fabrics in local charity stores and mills, thus supporting local commerce. During the period of stop due to the pandemic, she has devoted herself to knitting and she has continued her research among her family archives. Relying on the same suppliers as his great-grandfather (her family owned a famous boutique in Liverpool), she reuses antique materials and dyes her clothes with walnut shells. Sustainability for her is an implicit value and as she stated in an interview: "Find something that keeps you going, take a deep breath, and then keep on going!"
