THE POWERHOUSE OF BRITISH FASHION

The BFC  Foundation’s primary fundraising event celebrates the convergence of fashion, culture, and entertainment, highlighting the creative artists who have defined the year through direction, professionalism, and creativity. This esteemed list celebrates 50 of the most innovative and inspiring young talents from across the globe who are not only transforming but inspiring the fashion industry. From photographers and set designers to stylists and art directors, these pioneers represent a diverse range of specialities that will shape the creative future of fashion.

BFC Chief Executive Caroline Rush emphasised the importance of young creatives, noting “These emerging artists, often working behind the scenes, are redefining creativity across multiple disciplines and transforming the way fashion is experienced globally”.

HOW THE 2024 COHORT WAS CHOSEN

Voting began in July, where a team of significant industry professionals, including global fashion leaders such as Nick Knight, Ib Kamara, and Sara Maino, meticulously reviewed the 2024 New Wave Creatives list: with the help of the previous year’s New Wave winners voting for their favourite industry peers. This collaborative process demonstrates the strong sense of community and support that surrounds the fashion industry.

Numerous former students of New Wave Creatives have made significant contributions to the field. Distinguished former honourees include photographer Rafael Pavarotti, make-up artist Celia Burton, and DJ Peggy Gou. Their achievements serve as a tribute to the BFC’s priceless role in finding talent and providing the necessary environment for them to succeed.

A few artists stand out among this year’s exciting New Wave Of Creatives for their innovative ideas and work that pushes boundaries. For example, botanical set artist and visual artist Alexander Young creates captivating natural sceneries that give fashion photography a new, natural viewpoint. As a multi-talented artist, filmmaker, and image maker, Christian Saint transcends the boundaries between fashion and narrative with his cinematic complexity, while Tilda Mace is a remarkable 3D performance makeup artist who turns standard makeup into dynamic, three-dimensional art. Each of the fifty chosen artists brings an unconventional perspective to their work, which reflects the varied and changing nature of the fashion industry.
