The Conscious Boutique at MOMAD Challenges the Industry to Prove How Brands Are Reducing Their Environmental Impact

As sustainability claims face growing scrutiny, La Boutique Consciente (The Conscious Boutique) returns to MOMAD Madrid from 23 to 25 July with a curated selection of garments chosen for the environmental and social attributes they can demonstrate. Rather than promoting brands as inherently sustainable, the exhibition invites fashion professionals to look beyond marketing and examine the materials, craftsmanship, traceability and production methods behind each product.

Sustainability has become one of fashion’s most frequently used words. Yet as consumers, buyers and regulators demand greater transparency, one question is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore: what actually makes a garment more sustainable?

This question lies at the heart of La Boutique Consciente (The Conscious Boutique), returning to MOMAD at IFEMA Madrid from 23 to 25 July 2026. Rather than presenting sustainability as a label that can be applied to an entire brand, the curated space focuses on individual garments whose environmental and social attributes can be clearly explained and supported.

Curated by Belvis Soler, Co Founder of Luxiders Magazine and 001.Agency, The Conscious Boutique brings together a carefully selected collection of fashion pieces that highlight lower impact materials, responsible manufacturing, craftsmanship, circular innovation and supply chain transparency.

“The question is no longer whether a garment can be more sustainable, but how it demonstrates it. We wanted to create a space that inspires reflection and encourages the industry to move beyond claims towards measurable actions.” – says Belvis Soler, curator of the gallery.

From marketing claims to measurable product attributes

One of the defining characteristics of La Boutique Consciente is that it does not present participating companies as fully sustainable brands. Instead, each featured garment has been selected because it demonstrates one or several verifiable sustainability criteria.

Visitors will discover examples of garments made with certified natural fibres, recycled materials, regenerative agriculture, renewable energy, local manufacturing, traditional craftsmanship, circular design and innovative low impact production techniques. A strong emphasis on Made in Spain and locally manufactured products further highlights the role of regional craftsmanship, shorter supply chains and support for local economies.

The curated selection includes garments and accessories from Daniel Chong, Elemente Clemente, Fulmarix, Montoto, Tintoremus, Valgut & Bag, Pilar del Campo, Fabiolas, Surkana, Soruka, CMS Love, Wouf, Zen Ethic, RIA Menorca and Añino Regina Merina. Each product is accompanied by information explaining why it has been selected, helping buyers understand the environmental or social value of specific design decisions instead of relying on broad sustainability claims.

Sustainable garments telling different stories

Among this year’s selection are garments made from European Flax™ linen, LENZING™ ECOVERO™ viscose, organic cotton, native Spanish Merino wool, regenerative cotton, recycled leather, recycled PET, natural indigo made in Extremadura and locally sourced natural materials.

Several pieces demonstrate how innovation can significantly reduce environmental impact. Elemente Clemente, for example, presents digitally printed linen garments that dramatically reduce water consumption compared with conventional denim production. Tintoremus showcases naturally dyed regenerative denim using indigo cultivated and processed entirely in Extremadura. Other garments highlight local manufacturing, renewable energy, artisan production or the creative reuse of existing materials.

Rather than suggesting there is a single definition of sustainability, La Boutique Consciente illustrates that every garment can contribute through different measurable improvements.

The Conscious Boutique is part of a new edition of MOMAD, which places excellence, brand identity, and product at the heart of the trade fair experience.  The event will welcome more than 100 national and international brands and will be the first major meeting of the trade fair calendar to anticipate the trends that will define the Spring/Summer 2027 season.

A new benchmark for fashion quality

The return of La Boutique Consciente reflects a broader evolution within the fashion industry. Increasingly, buyers are evaluating garments not only for aesthetics and price, but also for durability, traceability, material origin, production methods and verified environmental performance.

Held within MOMAD 2026, which brings together more than 100 national and international exhibitors while previewing the Spring Summer 2027 collections, the initiative encourages professionals to rethink how value is created across the fashion supply chain. Ultimately, La Boutique Consciente raises a simple but increasingly important question for the industry: “Is your brand reducing fashion’s impact on the environment?”.

What’s more, the International Exhibition of Fashion, Footwear and Accessories will also include an International Buyers Programme targeting key markets in Europe, Latin America and Asia, as well as new specialised areas such as the Trends Zone, the Best Sellers Zone or the MOMAD Catwalk, with high-level fashion shows and presentations during three days for the trade.
